Kyle moved from the cold country of Michigan in 1999. He and his family had always enjoyed biking, but Florida’s warmth made it even more a part of their life. Growing up, Kyle had “department store” bikes, but when he got on the BMX track, they didn’t last long. Breaking bikes began to really break the family budget! However, adversity often brings innovation and Kyle began using bike parts to build new bikes. His skills and knowledge began to grow and that led to “Kyle’s Bike Shop,” now an integral part of the downtown Orlando neighborhood. One day while out riding, Kyle passed by a beautiful young lady and said, “Do you ride bikes?” “No, I have a car,” she quickly replied! It didn’t take long for Christy to fall in love with Kyle and bicycling. It also didn’t take long for her to win 1st place in a tri-Athlon! They are happily married now with two beautiful daughters who also like to ride, one in a baby trailer, as they make the trip to school each morning.

Kyle was raised in church. He fondly remembers his grandmother playing the organ. He takes his family to church every Sunday and they inspire the congregation to use bicycling as a ministry, reaching out to those less fortunate through “Charity Rides.” They are active in MS 150, Ronald McDonald, Cystic Fibrosis and Leukemia fundraising events. But more than that, they understand that bikes are an essential part of many people’s lives. Kyle’s Bike Shop literally “goes the extra mile” in helping people get to work, even when the paycheck is a little stretched for the month.

You’ll want to be sure to ask Kyle and Christy about their own personal testimony. They give all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ and you will too as you ride off on one of their specialty bikes!
